WIZKID Grabs MOBO Awards
It’s all happening for Nigerian international pop star, Wizkid.
The singer, who was recently nominated in the Best Dance Performance category of the 2017 Soul Train Awards, has also received two nominations in the Best International Actand Best African Act categories of the 2017 MOBO Awards.
Nigerian Music star, Wizkid, has been nominated for the ”Music of Black Origin” (MOBO) award in the category for Best International Act in the 2017.
The MOBO Awards stands for Music of Black Origin and was established in 1996 by Kanya King and Andy Ruffell. It is held annually to recognize and celebrate artists who create Black or urban music.
Wizkid is the only African and the first Nigerian mainstream artist to be nominated in the category, alongside global music stars like Jay Z, Kendrick Lamar, Drake and more others.
He was also nominated in the Best African Act category alongside Davido, Tekno, Tiwa Savage, Maleek Berry, Wande Coal, Mr Eazi and more.
The 2017 MOBO is set to take place on November 29th at Leeds First Direct Arena.

As of June 2017, Nigerian recording artist Wizkid has received a total of 43 awards from 157 nominations. He is the recipient of two BET Awards, three Billboard Music Awards, two iHeartRadio Music Awards, one MTV Europe Music Awards, four MTV Africa Music Awards, one iHeartRadio Much Music Video Awards,two SoundCity MVP Awards, one African Pride Award, two MOBO Award, six The Headies Awards, two Channel O Music Video Awards, six Nigeria Entertainment Awards, two Ghana Music Awards, two Dynamix All Youth Awards, two City People Entertainment Awards, and a Future Award. In addition, he has been nominated five times at the MTV Europe Music Awards, three times at the American Music Awards, once at the Grammy Awards, as well as four times at the World Music Awards.
These are the best of times for popular Nigerian musician Wizkid as it was recently announced that he is among the nominees for Best International Act award at MOBO Awards. This is coming after he was also nominated in the best African act category at the MTV European Music Awards (EMA).
On Tuesday morning, the nominees for the 2017 MOBO Awards were announced and our very own starboy, Wizkid is the only African artist vying for the Best International Act award.
He was also nominated in the Best African Act category alongside Davido, Tekno, Tiwa Savage, Maleek Berry, Wande Coal, Mr Eazi and more.
Wizkid is the first Nigerian mainstream artiste to be featured on the nominees list for this highly coveted category award.
The 2017 MOBOs is set to take place on November 29th at Leeds First Direct Arena.
